Lady Gaga Wants ‘Things to Be Less About Her’ as She Embraces the Next Chapter of Her Life
As she approaches her forties, Lady Gaga is shifting her focus from the spotlight to the people around her. The 38-year-old singer, songwriter, and actress recently shared that she hopes to spend the next decade of her life with less emphasis on herself and more on being there for her loved ones.
In an interview with ELLE UK, Gaga revealed, “I’d actually like things to be less about me. I really want to be there for people around me as much as I can. That’s the thing that makes me the most happy.” This shift in priorities comes as she prepares for a new chapter, both personally and professionally.
While Gaga plans to start a family with her fiancé Michael Polansky, she has no intention of stepping away from her music career. “That doesn’t mean I don’t want to be an artist,” she clarified. “But I think the thing I’d like in my forties is to discover all the ways I can show up better for people in my life.” She continued, “All the ways that I can create positivity and joy. Music’s just one way that I do it.”
Gaga also touched on her personal growth, explaining how she has worked to be more present in her day-to-day life. Reflecting on her past, she said, “I used to drink a lot and smoke a lot, and I was always looking for an out. I used to call it the trapdoor. I used to be like, ‘I need an escape route.'” She went on to explain that she has stopped seeking those escapes, choosing instead to be more in the moment. “And I actually started feeling it. Being present. As an artist, it’s hard to go through that and not want to share that with my fans.”
As she prepares for the release of her upcoming album Mayhem on March 7th, Gaga is embracing a new mindset—one focused on positivity, joy, and personal connection. Fans can expect not only her iconic music but a deeper, more grounded version of the artist.
