The Weeknd’s ‘Final’ Album Hurry Up Tomorrow Secures His Fourth UK Number 1

The Weeknd has scored his fourth Official UK Number 1 album with Hurry Up Tomorrow, marking a significant moment in his career. The Canadian artist, who has spent 14 years under the The Weeknd alias, could be wrapping up his musical journey, as this album is reportedly his “final” release under that name. Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, the artist’s real name, first made waves in 2011 with his mixtape House of Balloons. Since then, he’s released six studio albums, and Hurry Up Tomorrow serves as the third and final part of a trilogy that includes After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022).

The album also topped the Official Vinyl Albums Chart, becoming the biggest vinyl release of the week. This further solidifies Hurry Up Tomorrow’s dominance in both digital and physical formats.

Other Chart Milestones

In other notable chart news, English electronic duo Maribou State has reached a personal best with their third studio album Hallucinating Love, which debuted at Number 9. This marks their highest charting record to date, surpassing their previous effort Kingdoms in Colour (2018), which peaked at Number 25. Hallucinating Love also claimed the top spot on the Official Record Store Chart, reflecting its strong performance in independent UK record shops.

After her victory for Best New Artist at the recent GRAMMY Awards, Chappell Roan’s album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess remains strong, rising three spots to Number 6. This marks its 34th week in the UK Top 10.

Alt-pop artist RØRY (Roxanne Emery) has also made a splash with her debut album RESTORATION, which enters the Top 10 for the first time at Number 10. RØRY, who remains unsigned, expressed heartfelt gratitude to her fans, calling the achievement a gift for them.

The legendary Kim Wilde continues to make her mark, with her eighth Top 40 album Closer debuting at Number 27. The album is a sequel to her 1988 release Close and joins her long list of successful albums in the UK charts.

Benson Boone, who gained attention with his GRAMMYs performance, sees a significant jump in his debut album Fireworks & Rollerblades, which rises 26 spots to Number 30.

As the first solo rap artist to headline the Super Bowl halftime show this weekend, Kendrick Lamar’s album GNX is also on the rise, climbing two spots to Number 31. The album’s ascent is aided by its release in physical formats this week.

Ludovico Einaudi’s Classical Triumph

Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi also celebrates a milestone, securing his 13th Official Classical Artist Albums Chart Number 1 with his latest release The Summer Portraits.

This week’s chart highlights a diverse range of achievements, from pop to classical, as artists continue to make waves in the UK music scene.
