‘Funky’ or ‘Groovy’ what hits your spot

What is the difference between disco house and funky house?Funky House is House that’s merely funky/dancey in tone while Disco House is probably much more groovier with Disco samples thrown in. Then again, what’s the difference between the words ‘funky’ and ‘groovy’?

What era was funky music?

What Is Funk Music? Funk music is a style of dance music that evolved from the Black R&B, soul, and jazz scenes in the mid-1960s. Funk music is characterized by funky, syncopated bass lines and steady, infectious drum grooves, which drove it to become one of the most popular genres in the 1970s and ’80s.

Why is funky music called funky?

The term “funk” actually predates the genre by a few decades. Originating in the early 1900s, “funk” and “funky” were often used in the context of jazz. But over time, the word was expanded from its original meaning of “a pungent odor,” to include “a deep, distinctive groove.”

 Is disco music funky?

While there are rhythmic similarities between funk and disco, funk has a “central dance beat that’s slower, sexier and more syncopated than disco”, and funk rhythm section musicians add more “subtextures”, complexity and “personality” onto the main beat than a programmed synth-based disco ensemble.

What makes funk groove?

Funk music is driven by the bass line and drums, as opposed to melodies over a chord progression. Many, but not all, funk grooves are distinguished by three main traits: the use of ghost notes and multiple layers of dynamics, syncopated patterns on the bass drum, and displacing the backbeat on the snare drum
