Black Sabbath to Reunite for Ozzy Osbourne’s All-Star Final Show
In a monumental event, Black Sabbath’s original lineup will reunite for the first time in 20 years as part of Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert. The “Back to the Beginning” charity festival, set for Saturday, July 5, at Villa Park in Birmingham, will feature a stellar roster of rock legends. Alongside Black Sabbath, the festival will include performances from Metallica, Pantera, Slayer, and a supergroup comprising Billy Corgan, Slash, Fred Durst, Wolfgang Van Halen, and Tom Morello, who is also serving as the musical director for the event.
The lineup will also feature heavyweights like Gojira, Anthrax, Alice in Chains, Mastodon, Lamb of God, and Halestorm. Guns N’ Roses members Duff McKagan and Slash will also take the stage. Ozzy Osbourne will perform a solo set before joining Black Sabbath, and select artists will perform Sabbath and Ozzy solo classics, according to Sharon Osbourne. Additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
Ozzy shared his excitement for the event, saying, “It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning…time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.” Tom Morello echoed this sentiment, calling it “the greatest heavy metal show ever.”
Sharon Osbourne also expressed her happiness about the reunion, noting that Ozzy is “doing really great” and is thrilled to be with his bandmates and friends. She explained that Ozzy had never gotten a proper chance to say goodbye to his fans, and this concert would provide that opportunity. “This is his full stop,” she stated.
The proceeds from the event will benefit Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn Children’s Hospice.
