Lola Young’s Messy Holds Steady at Number 1 for a Third Week

Lola Young’s alt-pop hit Messy has secured a third consecutive week at Number 1 on the UK Singles Chart, fending off competition from ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’s APT. (Number 2) and Gracie Abrams’ former chart-topper That’s So True (Number 3). The track has proven to be a standout, maintaining its hold at the top spot.

Lady Gaga also makes waves this week, as her gothic anthem Abracadabra enters the chart at Number 6, marking the highest new entry of the week. This debut gives Gaga her 17th UK Top 10 hit and continues her success with tracks from her upcoming album MAYHEM, following Die With A Smile with Bruno Mars (Number 2) and the industrial-pop single Disease (Number 7).

Meanwhile, Hurry Up Tomorrow by The Weeknd impacts the Top 10 with two tracks: Timeless, featuring Playboi Carti, climbs nine places to its previous peak at Number 7, while Cry For Me debuts at Number 8. Additionally, São Paulo by Anitta re-enters the chart, reaching a new peak at Number 21.

The aftermath of the GRAMMYs has seen several big winners rise on the UK charts. Chappell Roan’s Pink Pony Club rebounds 12 spots to Number 14 following her Best New Artist win. Doechii’s DENIAL IS A RIVER climbs eight places to a new peak at Number 16, and Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us, which won Record and Song of the Year, re-enters at Number 27.

Charli XCX’s Guess, featuring Billie Eilish, returns to the Top 40 at Number 31 after Charli’s triple GRAMMY win. Benson Boone’s Beautiful Things also climbs back into the Top 40, up 13 places to Number 33.

Finally, Aitch & Bou’s Raving In The Studio breaks into the Top 40, rising 13 spots to Number 40. This marks Aitch’s 19th Top 40 hit and Bou’s third.

Island EMI Makes History

Island EMI has made history this week, becoming the first record label group in over 10 years to top the UK Official Singles, Albums, and Compilation Charts simultaneously. Lola Young’s Messy is Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow debuts at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, and the WICKED Motion Cast Recording remains at Number 1 on the Official Compilation Chart and Soundtracks Chart for an eleventh consecutive week.

This remarkable feat marks only the third time in this millennium that a record label group has achieved this. The last instance was in 2013 by RCA Label Group, and before that, RCA Arista in 2004.
