All the Stars Who’ve Performed at Super Bowl Halftime More Than Once

When Kendrick Lamar took the Super Bowl halftime stage this past Sunday, it wasn’t his first time. Back in 2022, he joined his mentor Dr. Dre for the groundbreaking hip-hop halftime show at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Alongside Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige, Lamar performed his solo tracks “m.A.A.d city” and “Alright,” and also participated in the group’s performance of “Forgot About Dre” and “Still D.R.E.” His solo performance on Sunday marked the second hip-hop halftime show in Super Bowl history.

But Lamar wasn’t the only repeat performer this year. Usher, who headlined Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, had also taken the stage previously. Usher first appeared at the halftime show in 2010 when he joined the Black Eyed Peas to perform “OMG,” a hit produced by will.i.am. He returned in 2011 for a solo performance, descending from the rafters in an all-white ensemble for a show-stopping set filled with robotic choreography.

While Lamar and Usher are recent examples, they are far from the first stars to perform multiple times at the Super Bowl halftime show. Two performers, in fact, have graced the big stage three times.

Here’s a look at the artists who have performed at the Super Bowl halftime show more than once. (Note: This list considers performances from the modern era of the Super Bowl halftime show, beginning in 1991 when New Kids on the Block ushered in the pop-centric format.)

Gloria Estefan: 1992, 1995 & 1999

Gloria Estefan made history as the first artist to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show three times. In 1992, she appeared as part of a Winter Olympics salute alongside figure skaters Dorothy Hamill and Brian Boitano. Three years later, she performed with Miami Sound Machine in the Disney-themed halftime of 1995. Then, in 1999, she returned to represent salsa music in the “Celebration of Soul, Salsa & Swing” alongside legends like Stevie Wonder, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and Savion Glover.
